Birds and Fables

There has been a long term relationship between birds and fables. There are fables which have used birds as the central theme and which have also borrowed the characteristics of the birds to just name a novel or movie. There are lots of these children’s fables which always used birds as thieves. My son asked me one day, were all birds thieves? I just couldn’t stop laughing. If you have noticed there are few fables where the birds play thieves by picking up some jewel. In few more fables, that they drop the jewels in the hats of some other person and that person is considered as the criminal. Are my dear friends that notorious?! They are notorious in their own sweet ways. The reason why birds are known for taking something and hiding is because they are used to doing things like that. They steal grains to feed themselves, build a nest from materials collected from lots of places and so on. There are even few birds which hide food in order to use it in the future.

My dear friends are always not that notorious, but they are intelligent too! Do you remember the crow in the Aesop’s novel of “Crow and Pitcher”? Wasn’t his intelligence that fetched him water? So here is a note to my dear children, do not think birds are only thieves, they can be more smarter than human beings!.
