Most of us are familiar with this flu, aren’t we? This was the flu that rocked the world, in 2005. But are you aware of the history of this flu? Or how does it happen? What are its effects? Bird Flu happens in humans when they come in contact with the infected poultry. The poultry has to be burnt, or destroyed in order to save people from getting affected. Imagine the number of birds that were killed, and I wonder how come very few people feel sorry for it. I felt very bad when they were killed, there was no option but it was still bad.

If you look for the origins of bird flu, it started in 1918. During that time there was something called Spanish flu which killed a lot of people, somewhere in millions, and this was the origin for Bird Flu. This is also known as H5N1. The first reported case was in 1197 in Hong Kong which killed few people and lead to the death of thousands of birds.

We were not spared and there have been bird flu incidents in the years 2003, 2004 and 2005. The year 2005 was bad, as many people died and lots of birds were massacred. One has developed a number of anti flu drugs which are used for treatment of this flu. One just hopes, that we do not have bird flu or even swine flu which is making headlines these days!
