As I was wondering what should be the next topic to write on, a thought just came up! We have a number of international days, like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and so on. But were there any such days for birds? I was sure that there will be at least 100 days and I will not be able to write about them and I will soon have to change the topic for the day. The reason why I thought there will be so many days is because there are so many varieties and each person who was passionate about a variety of bird would come up with a day for it. But I was for a real surprise. I could only gather about 3 big days which celebrate about birds. I shall list each of them below.

International Migratory Bird Day(IMBD), which is celebrated during the second Saturday of May. These people encourage groups to organize IMBD, depending on the migration time in their countries. Thus these days’ people celebrate IMBD all through out the year.

International Vulture Awareness Day, which happens to be on September 5th. It is time we people wake up to the fact that vultures are slowly disappearing and we celebrate this day to know how we can contribute to protect them.

International Dawn Chorus Day, is celebrated during the first Sunday of May. It is a day which encourages people to get up in the mornings and listen to the beautiful bird songs.

In addition to this I also found something called World Migratory Bird Day, whose central topic is about migratory birds. This year their theme is “Barriers to Migration”, which aims at removing the various man made obstacles which prevent birds from performing a safe migration.
