Falconry, have you heard of it? It is a game which involves birds, raptors to be specific.
Raptors are also known as birds of prey that hunt for food! This game involves trained raptors which are meant to hunt or follow a game. If you are wondering what is game, it is animal hunted for food. The person who trains these raptors is called falconer. There are three categories of raptors which are involved in this sport and they are classified based on their wings as Broadwings (Eagles, Harris Hawk), Longwings (Falcons) and Shortwings (Accipters).

As I have already stated this is a very expensive sport and each falconer will not have more than 2 birds. This is because each bird demands attention and time, for 365 days! If you are wondering whether this is a legal sport, it is legal if you have obtained the licenses from the State and Federal Authorities. And the hitch here is one does not get it easily!

There is International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds for Prey, which is a worldwide organization and can boast of around 30,000 people. The sport started in Mesopotamia around 722 B.C, and we are still continuing it today!
