I had a wonderful opportunity a few years back to enjoy the pigeon races since a friend of mine is into this sport. As all of us know that pigeon racing is a sport where trained birds are released and they have to return back home after traveling a large distance. The winner is declared based on the distance traveled and the speed that it has covered. In other word the fastest bird wins. In order to win, one must train the bird very well.

The training methods are very secretive. One of the methods is to widowhood, where the bird is separated from its mate, till it finishes the race. But poor pigeons face a number of hazards. One of the biggest hazards is in the form of birds of prey. These days mobile phone towers are also creating a problem in the navigation skills of the birds.

So breed pigeons with care, after all each training method’s success depend on the amount of dedication.
