Birds and V formation
Have you noticed the way birds fly? They fly in V shaped? Do you know why they do it? If you thought it was done simply then, you better read this article to know more. Generally geese, ducks and other migratory birds fly in V shape. The basic purpose of V formation is that it increases efficiency that is the amount of distance traveled by the birds. This is because a lot of energy is conserved in this formation and as a result birds are capable of flying greater distances due to the conserved energy. It is estimated that this formation helps them cover 70% more distance every day, than traveling in isolation. So do all birds put the same amount of effort? It is both a no and a yes. The reason here is that the bird at the vertex, i.e. the one which is leading the pack has to put in lot of effort to maintain this formation. So during this time, the other birds enjoy their ride. But once it gets tired, it will fall back onto the V line and another bird will substitute it. Thus all birds in the flock, are known to strive hard everyday.
So, if you thought birds were dumb, then they are very intelligent. They understand science and also know that team effort results in success. Are we humans listening? Maybe, we can use custom trading pins to create awareness about this issue.
