My first bird watching experience

This happened a few years back, and to be honest I hated it. The first birds that ever entered my garden were crows. I did not find them appealing, they looked ugly. That was my first impression. But as days passed, I fell in love with them. They might not be great outwardly, but if you observed them keenly then you would understand that they are intelligent creatures and caring ones too. The other day, one of their friends suffered a fall, and it fell down from the tree. The rest continuously cawed for sometime. I was inside my home and I came running out hearing the noise. Alas, I was shocked to see the young bird on the ground. I took some water and I poured over it.

The crows stopped cawing and this young one, slowly fluttered its wings and then flew back. I enjoyed helping that bird, but deep down somewhere the care the other crows had for it made me sit up. My hate turned into love, and I admired the fact that they helped each other. Outward appearance may attract us, but sometimes the bird’s characteristics jolt us from our ignorance too! This happened years back, and I have had a number of visitors to my garden year after year.
