Oops, I forgot

My friend owns a farm and she invited me to stay with her, so I can enjoy some time watching birds there. I packed and happily left. I reached her farm after 4 hours drive. As I unpacked my things to refresh and that is when I exclaimed, “Oops, I forgot!” If you wondered what I was exclaiming about, then it was my camera. A bird watcher would obviously love to click pictures so that one can treasure his memories. I was terribly upset at my absent mindedness and was keen on calling up Merle and asking him to bring my camera. But my friend suggested that I try bird watching without cameras and persuaded me to give it a real serious try without grumping.

I reluctantly agreed to this option and went to the farm to get a glimpse of birds. We spotted a pair of Orange Crowned Sparrows. I just gazed at them and then began smiling. They were playing and in the process began to flutter around. This caused rustling sound, and I found the leaves swaying gently to their movements. It looked like they were playing hide and seek, and the tree was dancing to their chirps. I couldn’t stop smiling at this beautiful sight and even showed it to my friend. The rest of the day, had many incidents like this and it was a great day!

At the end of the day, I realized that the lack of an electronic gadget made me concentrate on even the smallest things and that I felt I was a part of nature. I was lucky that I forgot the camera, for I wouldn’t have had this great memory to cherish all through my life!
